Our Story

Ken Robertson is the founder of Sierra Creek Ventures. The name Sierra Creek was inspired by fishing trips Ken took with his dad, started at an early age in the Sierra Mountains, which become a special family tradition. Ken’s career in commercial real estate has included a wide variety of markets, private real estate investments and developments. Starting off with a BA in Finance and Real Estate from Long Beach State University and an MBA from University of Southern California, Ken worked first as a commercial real estate broker with The Staubach Company and later becoming the founder of a successful shopping center development company, TR Realty Partners. Ken also became a Regional President for KBS, a national investment manager that has made a major footprint in various markets in the United States. At Sierra Creek Ventures, Ken continues to apply his unique brand of creativity, strategy and marketing.

Ken’s father Don Robertson made a signature mark in the Southern California investment community and serves as a trusted independent advisor to Sierra Creek Ventures.

Stretching from the mountains, to the desert, to the Pacific Ocean, Southern California is an awe-inspiring patchwork of unique places. It never ceases to evolve and shift to meet the needs of its people. At the heart of recent changes is a realization that the best approach to improving big places, is to do small things better one neighborhood at a time. In the latter part of the 20th century we designed cities, first, with the automobile in mind. Long commutes, regional hubs, and suburban sprawl often gave way to places that lacked a sense of community and charm; the soulful neighborhoods and gathering spots of the past. While we can’t undo the past, we can learn from it and continue improve how communities better serve the people who use them. Our mission at Sierra Creek Ventures is to help mold Southern California back toward creating more special places where neighborhoods have heart and soul. Places with less cookie-cutter concepts and more organic growth. Places where communities and people come first.

Sierra Creek Ventures is focused on transforming Southern California one project at a time. With every new project, we take what we have learned from prior ventures (the good and the bad) and improve our approach. Below is but a sample of projects we have developed here in Southern California, and for our advisory clients we care for their properties as if they were our own. Like elsewhere in the nation, brick-and-mortar retail in California has taken a hit, particularly as big-box and mall-anchor mass retailers including Macy’s and Toys “R” Us dramatically scale down or closing their operations. Stepping into the void is industrial real estate, capturing much of the lost demand in traditional retail through growth in e-commerce.
